You are presented with a random note on the fretboard, and are offered a variety of choices for the correct answer. Just pick the button corresponding to the correct choice to score a hit!

The new staff training mode also helps you learn the position of notes on the musical staff on the fretboard of your instrument.

As your score gets better and you manage to identify notes faster across the entire fretboard, your working knowledge of the instrument increases!

Game mode provides a fun way to make progress. Work your way through levels of increasing difficulty and compete with your friends!

WHAT ARTISTS SAY ABOUT THE APP

“ Learning the notes on the fretboard is key to any guitarists development on the instrument, and [Fretuoso] is a neat way to get that info burned into your brain without having to carry a guitar with you everywhere you go. Pretty cool! ”
-- Bryan Beller (Dethklok, Steve Vai, Mike Keneally)

“ This is one of the best apps Ive seen in a while. Its simple, fun and educational. Very useful for guitar players as a lot of [them] tend to play by ear and not care much about knowing the fretboard. ”
-- Rick Musallam (Mike Keneally, Gryphon Labs)

Pros and cons of Fretuoso app for iPhone and iPad

Fretuoso app good for

Very useful, great job! I love this app!! Keep on rockin!! :D
This is perfect for mastering your instrument whatever tunning you are using. I just wish they had a "scale mode" built in.
Title says it all, great app, but you need to spend some, what looks like worth while money
Ive always wanted to know all the notes on the fret board. Im impressed with this game. Its a great tool!
I have enjoyed improving my knowledge of the neck with this app. I have been trying for years to learn the notes, I have drawn them out on paper, tried memorizing them and testing myself. This app makes it efficient, fun, and customizable to improve your knowledge of your instrument.
This is good app! I enjoy it. It is good for learning and reminds you to practice! Very good app in my opinion!!

Some bad moments

I cant start this App. When ist is loading the mainsreen my iPad is comming back to home Screen... This App does not work.
Hmmm, basic app works but when I wanted to get a bass instrument, it asked for my apple password and user id. after trying other routes, finally gave in. The it said cant complete the order. Meanwhile they collected my user info. Im thinking this is just a phishing site Stay away!!! Going to change all my account stuff
Requires you to pay in order to past the 5th fret. If youre going to make an app require money to work properly, make it paid to begin with.
I found this app really confusing because it only shows three frets on the screen at a time and so it took me a while to realize that the second fret shown on the screen is actually the fifth fret on the guitar. There are little numbers beside there frets but its constantly jumping around on the fretboard so you lose track of where you are and it does not really help with visualizing the note placement on the fretboard. Also annoying is fact that the buttons you press to answer which note you think it is are so close to the upgrade button that you are constantly pressing it.
The premise is great, but the constant bombardment of ads kills me. I cant even press 10 buttons without it prompting an ad, which pops up and covers the whole screen, so you can not play until you close it. Very distracting, frustrating, I uninstalled. I wanted to learn guitar chords not ad strategy
This would probably be a good app if it didnt pop ads every 3 seconds which automatically put you into App Store, the BS with the ads makes me give it a 1, fix the ad problem and tone it down a bit (dont have ads which auto direct you to a purchase for a game every 3 seconds) I may redo my review. As for now, deleted and uninstalled, Ill go play around with some other apps.
